Opened in 1995, the Magnolia Midlands Georgia Youth Science & Technology Center (MMGYSTC) serves as a Regional Center for GYSTC, Inc., a private, not-for-profit organization dedicated to growing interest and enthusiasm in science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM) across Georgia. GYSTC programs focus on elementary and middle school teachers, students, and families—especially those in traditionally underserved communities.
Located on the East Georgia Campus in Swainsboro, Magnolia Midlands GYSTC delivers a wide range of hands-on, high-impact educational experiences. Among their most popular offerings for K–8 teachers and students are STARLAB Planetarium programs and Family STEM Nights. The Center also provides professional development for educators, STEM kits for classrooms, in-class learning activities, and engaging summer camps that bring STEM learning to life.

The Georgia Youth Science and Technology Centers, Inc. is committed to delivering high-quality STEM programs that strengthen teaching and learning from kindergarten through eighth grade. GYSTC creates experiences that shift perceptions, spark curiosity, and foster a lasting appreciation for science, technology, engineering, and mathematics.
Goals of GYSTC
GYSTC focuses on four core goals to advance excellence in STEM education:
- Promote interest and enthusiasm for STEM subjects.
- Encourage students to pursue future opportunities in STEM fields.
- Enhance teaching and learning by strengthening instructional methods and subject knowledge.
- Support Georgia’s workforce by helping develop more well-prepared and qualified employees for industries across the state.
